Texas Collegiate League
Despite the fact that Texas is one of the top baseball talent-producing states in the country, and home to the recent NCAA Division I national champions, there has been no minor league-type college baseball summer league in the Lone Star State . This all changed in June of 2004, when the Texas Collegiate League opened its inaugural season. The Texas Collegiate League began play June 8, 2004, and made an immediate impact on the baseball world.

The Towns
The league began with eight teams located around the Dallas/Ft. Metroplex. Known as some of the best communities in the state, the inaugural eight teams were: Coppell, Graham, Granbury, Highland Park, McKinney, Mineral Wells, Weatherford, and Colleyville. These towns, rich in baseball tradition and community pride, provide some of the best baseball facilities the state has to offer. The teams are run like minor league baseball franchises. These communities are all located within a short drive of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, giving college players the Best of two worlds - the ability to experience warm, hometown Texas hospitality while having access to one of the nation's top 10 cultural areas. Dallas/Ft. Worth is home to numerous entertainment opportunities, from major league and minor league baseball to Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor, to concerts and world-class museums. The league towns all have access to some of the finest lakes in the state of Texas as well as some of the premier golf facilities in the Lone Star State.

The Concept
The league exists to provide the top professional prospects in college the opportunity to upgrade their draft stock by learning to adjust to using wooden bats against the best collegiate players in the country. The highest concentration of major league scouts in the

lives is the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and has welcomed the chance to view the top talent without the hassles associated with traveling far from home. The Texas Collegiate League teams have mascots with Texas themes, i.e. the Lonestars, Wranglers, Roughnecks, and Copperheads.

Mission Statement
The Texas Collegiate League exists to provide the best summer league experience for the best professional prospects from colleges throughout the country. The league will allow those players with eligibility remaining to showcase and improve their skills in a wholesome, minor league-type atmosphere using wooden bats. The league is committed to providing quality, inexpensive entertainment in a small-town, intimate atmosphere that is distinctively Texan, while helping promote the game of baseball in the communities involved.
